Martial Arts Has A Ton Of Benefits... Too Many To List Them All Here... BUT, I Will List My Favorite Five That We Teach At OKS Martial Arts and Fitness In Forsyth And At Our OKS Macon, GA Dojo:
1. Courtesy/Being Polite
Our #1 Goal In Teaching Our Classes Is For A Student To Be A Good Person. Not To Have The Hardest Kick Or Biggest Muscles (Though Power And Strength Is Important). By Instilling The Mindset Of "Being Nice" At All Times To Everyone, A Child As Young As 3, Or Adult, Will Be Less Stressed And Have That "Niceness" Returned 10 Fold.
2. Control/Focus
Does Your Mouth Sometimes Get The Best Of You And You Say Something You Shouldn't? Does Your 6yr-12yr Child Have Trouble Keeping Their Hands To Themselves? We Work On Body Control Every Class To Combat This. Even By Simply Having Your Hands Behind Your Backs When Listening As The Instructor Is Explaining A Technique, It Will Change Your Child's Behavior Reports From Their Teachers And Make Sure You Don't Tell Off Your Boss! :O)
Focus Is The 2nd Part Of This. It Is Closely Connected With Control. Without One, You Can't Fully Achieve The Other. Using Eye Contact, Sitting Up Straight, Following ALL Directions Given Are Just Some Of The Tactics We Use In Our Fun, High Energy Martial Arts Classes To Improve Focus.
3. Confidence
You Will Be Able To Ask For That Raise And Your Child Will Have No Fear Of Trying Out For The Basketball Team As Long As There Is Confidence. By Using The Praise/Correct/Praise Method Of Teaching, We Are Never "Mean" Or Degrading To A Student And There Is No Ego At OKS To Drag You Or Your Child Down. The First Time A Student Cracks Through A Board With A Hammerfist, The Confidence Will Go Up, Up, Up! We Teach Our Mighty Mites To Always Try Hard, Never Give Up And Finish What They Start.
4. Fitness
At The OKS Martial Arts and Fitness In Either Forsyth, GA Or OKS Macon, GA, A Student Will Burn A Ton Of Calories And Get Muscles You Never Had Or Thought You LOST! It Is Never Too Late To Start Working Out, But The Gym Is BORING... Take It From A Personal Trainer. Unless You Spend $$$ For That PT, It Is Hard To Stay Motivated Unless Someone Holds You Accountable. Eating Right Will Always Be 60-70% Of The Route To Success, But That Is Where The Above Control Kicks In.
I Promise You And/Or Your "Tween" Child Will Be In MUCH Better Shape Than When You Start, Feel Better, Have More Energy, And Set An Example/Motivate Someone Else!

5. Self Defense
We Teach Real Martial Arts. Traditional Okinawan Karate. It Is Very Old, Proven And Uses Only Realistic Moves That Are Effective. If You Want To Defend Yourself Or Your Family, Karate Is A Great Choice!
Concentrating On Using Elbows, Knees, Entry Points, Etc And Not Jumping Up In The Air And Spinning 15 Times Before Kicking The Bad Guy, Might Just Work :O)
